Re this general thread, K4XS put this issue over very well (IMHO) on the
CQ-contest reflector, though admittedly it was aimed at the SOAB (U) vs (A)
debate. I take your point entirely regarding the Multi-something
category........your spotting crutch is 'another operator' (probably
several hundred in fact?).
And if you are geared up and used to using it, then its demise will feel
like you have lost something. I suppose the question is 'How much have you
actually lost'? I recall SOAB (A) once being referred to as 'Single
Operator Distracted'. Perhaps like most things, however, with experience
more efficient use will develop.
Personally, while I can marvel at the technology (though I have never seen
'point and shoot' in action), I think 'How much more satisfying it is to
find 'em yourself'.
