The simple answer is you and your computer can call it whatever number of
com port you want.  As long as your 'interface thing' supports that com
number.  My MP is usually on virtual com port 6.  Works fine here with
different logging programs.

Probably a stupid question but how many COM ports is recognised by the CAT
selector on the rear panel of the MP?

E.G.  Can I instruict my computer in Turbolog for example to call it COM6
or COM 9?

Normally I'd cable it direct to COM1 or 2 into the computer but I am trying
out one of them Interface things with virtual COM ports...

Sorry to take up the bandwidth but I know there is a high level of expertise
available on this Group..
