Dear UK-Contest Reflector
I forwarded the HF2V query to "Mr Butternut", W9KNI.
His reply follows.

While copper and aluminum can be a real no-no, the "Butter-it's-Not" is
safe to use. The copper is suspended in a heavy grease. The grease keeps
moisture out of the joint. This insures that there is no galvanic reaction.
Galvanic action requires two disimiliar metals - like copper and
aluminium - AND an electrolyte. Water will do fine as an electrolyte -
the salts from one of the two metals turn it into a conductor and then
the galvanic corrosion begins.
The grease used in Butter-it's-Not denies the opportunity for water and
thus for the electrolyte required for corrosion. Butter-its-Not has been
used for over 20 years without problems.
