Thanks to everyone for the feedback from SDC V11.14. There
were some bugs and some suggestions.
The bugs first.
When logging an HQ station for the first time, and where
that station was not already in BERU.CTY, SDC went into
edit mode after the QSO was logged - and required two
Enters to return to logging. Fixed.
Secondly, for bonus purposes, SDC counted this HQ station
as a "home" country callsign, which reduced the number of
bonuses it would count for that country. Fixed.
One bug that's not fixed:
SDC may not accurately track bonuses where you edit a
previously logged non-HQ QSO to be an HQ QSO (not already
in the BERU.CTY file). However, SDC will then add that
callsign to BERU.CTY, will recognise it as an HQ station
on other bands, and will count it correctly for bonus
purposes.
The improvements:
If you're taking BERU seriously, you should be prepared
to move most stations needed as bonuses on other bands.
V11.14 (5th March) introduced a colour-coded bonus/band
analysis for stations already worked.
What's handy about this is that it appears immediately
below the callsign you've just entered. You have all
the relevant information in one place. There's no need
to look at any other part of the screen or touch any
other key.
In V11.15 this feature has been extended to operate, in
a similar way, for calls not already logged. For example,
to see if, and on what bands, VE3 would be a bonus, just
type VE3.
The look of the display depends on whether you've logged
the callsign already. If so, the data is shown on a
coloured background. Otherwise, there is no coloured
background. If the callsign would be a dupe on this band,
then the analysis appears as usual, but the current band
turns to red.
I believe this is a first for any contest logger. Even
if you don't use SDC for BERU, you might like to have a
look at it anyway - and then pester others to do the
same. You can download SDV V11.15 from

It's not too late for more suggestions.
