[UK-CONTEST] Too many contests.

I agree there are lots of contests. I don't see this as a problem, with
one exception.

As a keen DXCC/IOTA chaser who has had to start from scratch since QSYing to
5B 2 years ago, I see contestes as an opportunity to work new IOTAs or band
points.

The only problem I have with contests is when there is an IOTA expedition to
a needed island which is active only for the weekend of a contest. Often
these atations have a weak signal and get obliterated by contest stations
who tend not to listen too hard to see whether a frequency is occupied.

Other than that I see contests as as positive. They activate bands that may
otherwise be dead (eg 10m). They help with the 'use it od lose it'
philospophy.

However I am sure that some rationalisation could take place without losing
the benefits of contests.
