Clive I seem to recall problems with LPT locked up when trying to use DlPortI/O. Had a few sleeps since 
but I think its to do with the port being previously used with a printer :-) and something being held in a On state.
I dont use the LPT port so cant offer any useful workround solution.Maybe an ask on some of the interface sites on the web may come up with an answer.
