Thoughts on the proposals from a veteran of, erm, two previous NFD's...
1. NFD Open section as it is now appears to me to be a lot of hard work for not that many more QSO's than just sticking to the Restricted section. If the increased number of sections you propose brings us in line with more EU countries then I'd back it. Think we'd have a lot less teams in what is the existing Open section!
2. No thanks. This goes completely against the concept of being a /P contest. Agree HFCC concerns about this one. IOTA is already being ruined by the same situation.
3. The aim of NFD is to activate from a /P location and hopefully compete against other groups on a fairly level playing field, not to activate a rare(r) DXCC. There are plenty of other contests to cater for those in rarer DXCC's. That in mind I'd say keep as is, and 160/10 need the extra incentive of double pts.
4. Based on answer to 3, no need for any change.
Summertime contests for me are all about getting out /P. As such I can't see the sense in combining CW and SSB FD as SJJ suggests. This would mean one less /P HF contest per year for those, like that me, who enjoy braving the elements at the height of BST ;-)
Can't see any problem in the change to the restricted section antenna height limitation. It may prove more testing for the single op who takes part, but NFD is really a team game is it not?
I reckon too many stations are now in possession of FT1000MP/mkv/field/D etc to prohibit their use in NFD.
