Re: NFD consultation
There seem to be two schools of thought.
(1) Let us not turn it into yet another multi-mode, multi-national,
multi-section, multi-watt, multi-rule contest. I pretty much agree with
this, but can also see the point of:
(2) Let's move on, "We want and need more activity from Euro countries so
we need an EFD contest". And "Oh dear: cluster-objectors hijacking the
discussion, again. A minor FD issue". (Cluster is not really appropriate to
a FD-style operation, in my book, and most reflectees seem to agree).
Here's a possibility that might satisfy both--
== A restricted section, much like the current one (perhaps some Eu
harmonisation), no cluster, 100w, one wire antenna, etc. Runs under current
NFD scoring. And a low power section under similar rules.
== An open section, virtually anything goes (but must be a bona fide FD
operation), cluster, any antennas, any rigs, maximum licensed power, etc.
Runs under Eu-style scoring.
Both sections would have their results published in Radcom, and both would
get submitted to the Eu FD tables. Of course, the new restricted section
people might not win any Eu awards, but their results would
contribute to the entrants in this part of the contest. It could be that
the open section people would also not win too many NFD awards, but that
remains to be seen.
Would this satisfy those who want a full-blooded contest, and also those who
want to retain some of the traditions of NFD as we still know it?
