Sorry to be late on this thread; been away for 2 weeks. So, too late for any
feedback to Dave; but still worthy of a quick comment
I am in favour of trying to commonise as much as possible with EU; and would
fully support changing to the EU scoring system with mults.
My reasons would be that you then have a common strategy with EU - we are
working for the same goals.
I agree that fixed stations should not be allowed, or if they are, in a
definite separate section, with no awards !!
I don't think that we should be over sensitive to the far flung GJ/GU/GD
mult issues . I know I have a vested interest with a foot in the GD0EMG
camp; but, 3 things -
1) Last year; G6YB gave GD0EMG (minus me!) a run for their money. This
year; we (Lichfield ARS) also managed to put a score up near where EMG would
have been.
2) It is not a recent thing for activity from these "outposts". I know the
AAA team have covered UK well over the years, but with the greatest respect
to Roger/Nigel/Ian; I never remember them dominating from these places in
the past ? Competitive yes !
3) I seem to recall also the packet spots for some of the leading teams in
NFD suggest that GD0EMG do not get spotted significantly more than G6YB/P,
or G5XV/P; who do have rarer prefixes? a G3 / P always gets spotted less !
So there are always other points when deciding what is an advantage and not
!
A 4th point is, if someone wants to try GU/GJ/GD, then they can always try
that; and make a real club effort at doing something special, and making an
event out of it !!
