Dick,
As others have said, this is a common issue. I find that the longer the rig
has been off (e.g. when we've been away on holiday) the longer the delay.
Often turning it off and back on again speeds the process.
I understand it is a thermal fuse that causes the problem. Somewhere I have
the mod that fixes the problem. 9M6CT sent it to me. If I can find it I'll
send it to you. It involves removing (or bypassing - can't remember) one
component on the display board. It may be available in the Yaesu reflector
archives.
