[UK-CONTEST] UK-Contest Digest, Vol 37, Issue 7

Getting that 3dB gain on receive on the weak stations
is what it is all about. - G3RTE.

As the Scottish contingent will agree it isn't rx that
is the problem. From the west country and GM we can hr
ok but can't make ourselves heard. Central england is
bombarded by high angle stuff at far greater
strengths, in fact it is easier for stns in the far
west to work GM from quite early hours than it is to
contact centrally located stns. By the time skip
lengthens, because they have spent so much time
waiting in line, stations on the perimeter are so far
behind that catch up is not a possibility.

An insoluble problem that no combination of antennas
can much assist with, given the hours that AFS takes
place. - believe it.
