Thanks Pete and Mike for at least considering the idea. To answer Mike's
comment about 290 Qs being a low target. No, Mike, that is just the
point. I took the figure from the 2006 results. A top well equipped
station UK with an experienced operator can only achieve about 50% of
what Bob did from 9H3. If I were to do as I described then the best
ratio I could expect would be that. I would not be allowed to work the
other 50% even though they are active and working other participants
outside the UK

Looking at it from further down the table, a similar UK setup to Bob's
9H3 station could expect to make just 150 QSOs in the 24 hours compared
with Bob's 580.
I said I wasn't talking about rate, but have to draw the comparison of
Bob's 24 Qs an hour to the UK station's 6 Q/H. As I said not really a
lot of incentive.

Pete, the possibility of an outright UK win may have existed in the
past, you are the expert in this so I accept what you say, however if
you look at the results over the last few years the ratio of Qs between
top non-UK and top UK doesn't seem to indicate that possibility now.
Interestingly 9H seems a good location!!

Year O'seas UK
2006 727 293
2005 1002 383
2004 918 366
2003 1152 435
2002 963 435

Averaging out at 2.5 :1 loading in favour of Overseas.

Regarding Travel to Win, well I did discuss this with Yvonne over a
glass of wine last night. She would be in favour of a week in Gozo but
you would need to alter the date of CC to either over the Christmas
break or during the Easter break, which is mid April next year. In
between then she is back to the 70 hour/week regime continuous during
Jan to March.

Apologies to Roger SXW, he balls me out at every occasion about this
one. It really is good at last to get some proper discussion without the
continual bleating about it being a DX contest and not about rate. The
point is about not being able to work participants even though they are
on the bands and available. That is the bit I would like to see addressed.
