Just had our log scored; so here goes:
Q's Points
TopBand 150 1072
Eighty 215 737
Fourty 306 981
Twenty 395 1200
Fifteen 211 659
Ten 255 1506
Total 1532 6155
Conditions on HF really helped this time; good 10m; but also, 15 often seems
to be the forgotten band !
160m - Perception is that EU must have been suffering from a lot of QRN. We
had some, but many EU could not copy so well - I remember a HB9 in
particular struggling with us, and complaining of QRN. Scores well down on
our target, but good enough compared to the posted scores.
Strange calls - too many to mention ; mainly from Germany ! So we
eventually got used to DR2006 somethings; and had to contend with
DA0HAMCAMP !
The strangest to me was towards the end - was called by DL36RA. I reckoned
it must have been DL3BRA; but he corrected the call to DL36RA; a couple of
times afterwards ! I have been advised by good contacts in DL that there
are no DL36 calls; and in fact someone was penalised last year as a UBN for
DL36RA; so I will go with my instincts on this one !
If anyone is interested in sending their logs to the DARC event - they
changed the rules this year, and did without the 10 minute rule at last.
Means you won't get penalised for fast QSY !
Antennae - C31XR & dipoles for 40/80/160m. We put the C31XR this year at
60 feet; normally it is below the wires, since we figured we wanted more
high angle. We seemed to perform better on HF with a higher beam !
Ops : G3NKC, G0MTN, G3VHB Very tiring with 3, but I know we weren't the
smallest team !
Many thanks also to G3NLY, G4CJC, GW3NAS, GW3KDB, who as well as being
great company, helped with putting the station together / dismantling; and
keeping us fed and watered.
(I understand G4CJC won the Friday night beer drinking contest on top of a
Curry contest by a mile - he should have a special award for that !)
