John,
1) Press FAST and LOCK buttons and then power up.
2) Press FAST and ENTER
3) Select CH 9-5 using MEM/VFO knob
4) Put on dark glasses and nudge main VFO knob
This will perform a systems diagnostic check and hopefully tell you what
the problem is.
