TOTAL SCORE : 825
Rig : K2/100, 100W. 25m end-fed @ 10ft agl (OK feed point is at 15ft and
bottom end at 5ft!)
Unable to put in a serious entry from a competitive station due to needing
to spend some time looking after baby daughter, but snatched a few minutes
operating from home with the big station here and there! Lots of stations
CQed in my face as expected - esp on 40m in around 2230 where the antenna
seems especially bad - but was amused to see Roger, VE3ZI & Brian, 5B/G4ODV
say that they were bothered with noise on 80 and could only work the louder
folks....! I must have been near the bottom of the pile - though I did
manage to run a few stations on 80m with this system during ARRL CW as well
& my signal at K5ZD sounded OK - who needs lots of metal!
Conditions on the high bands seemed pretty ropey from here - even 20 on
Sunday morning was very thin - but congrats to ZL6A, ZL6QH & ZL4BR for
pulling me from the noise.
BERU isn't like other contests and it isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I
dont think it's ready to be killed off just yet. When entry levels drop year
on year (and not just in sync with the sunspot cycle) - then it's time to
take a look - but right now - I think there's probably still enough support.
Andy
