Chris,
In MM you can configure the amount of time to record. The end of the
recording will always be when you log the QSO and the start up to n seconds
before that.

Don't forget this is a sport not just a hobby!!!

Hi Stewart, it's me again!! So many interesting things to discuss these
days! I have just started recording QSOs again, not to enable me to
correct errors but more of general interest since it is easy to do.
I did some recording when I used Writelog which produces one contiguous
file, also you need to select record at the beginning of a contest and
sometimes when I had planned top record I forgot! With WL running you
could select a QSO to listen to but it would be harder to identify it
using external software.
With N1MM you just select Record and it then does so every time. Each
QSO is contained in a discreet WAV file, which is convenient and can be
played back either in N1MM, as per WL or using an external program. The
only downside is that the trigger is when you type in a callsign, so any
in-between stuff like when I was listening to the 20 serial number
repeats last weekend isn't recorded.
Not sure how SD and Wintest handles audio recording. I tend to use
Audacity freeware for general things like recording 40m LP QSOs. People
are often interested to hear how they sound at the other end. My
interface is the microham Keyer which is really great for CW & SSB
messages as well as this topic.
