Having had a bad week at work, I thought I'd treat myself to a new
printer this morning. I have a monochrome laser
but thought I'd tart up my QSL labels by adding a wee touch of colour.
Being Scottish I didnt want to spend a lot of money
so I bought an HP PSC 1410 in a sale. Works fb.

Now then. I set it up to print labels using my trust BV7 from Bernd
DF3CB. I set the Avery Number to 3 x 7 63.5 x 38.1
as per my laser and printed of a whole page of labels onto a clean sheet
of paper - same size as the labels page.

After a bit of fiddling with the margins, I got the labels all centred
up and saved the settings.

I put in a sheet of labels and woops - the setting had altered to a very
small margin at the top of the page, so all the labels were
not in their square - if you know what I mean. Darn I must have
changed something. Re-set all the setrting, reprinted with another
sheet of paper, hold it up to the light, yup all nicely in the label
area. Insert another sheet of labels - bugger the top margin has
shrunk again. Stick in a sheet of ordinary paper - yes the labels
print properly. Stick in another label sheet - top margin
has gone to buggery.

Back to the drawing board. Check setting for margins, paper size, type
of paper, print size, label size, label code, drink a cup of coffee,
calm down and try again on a clean sheet of paper. Beautiful
labels. Stick in a sheet of labels - yup you guessed it - the top
margin has shrunk again.

This is where it gets interesting. I think I am loosing my mind.
This time, I put in a sheet of paper, a sheet of labels, a sheet of
paper and finally another sheet of labels.

Yup you got it - the paper print is very fb with the labels in the right
place on the sheet and the margins fb, the label sheets - the top
margin has mysteriously shrunk and I lost another 2 sheets of labels.......

Now it is afternoon, I have used half a box of labels and still
getting nowhere. I am tempted to throw the printer through the
window. Apart from rolling on the floor laughing and slapping your
thighs, does anybody have any serious
suggestions of what I should try next or where I am going wrong.

The labels print OK on my laser......... :-(
