[UK-CONTEST] PL259 Plugs

G'day,

I changed over to using the type with the ferrule compression fitting for
the braid, same as the N-types. Have used some "Multicomp" units with
URM-67 which seem OK to me.

My main co-ax runs to the tower are Echoflex 10 and that uses a special
connector with a slightly bigger hole up the pin to take the larger size
inner conductor.

Either way, no soldering of the braid which makes fitting the things
outside easier.

Regards,

Mike VP8NO

|I point I forgot to mention about PL259s. Whilst the quality of RS
| components 259s are good i.e. silver/ptfe the dia of the barrel where
you
| solder the braid is too large leaving a small gap between the barrel and
the
| braid to be soldered. Obviously nobody at RS has tried to solder one of
| these plugs. The SO239s back to backs are silver plated/ptfe so are good
| quality my only bitch with this make is that the centre hole runs right
the
| way through the back to back whereas others I have are blocked off half
way
| through which is better. 73 Clive GM3POI
