A last minute invite out to dinner meant that for the whole length of
the contest I had to sit in in a really pleasant restaurant, with good
company, good food and good wine, so missed out on the proceedings, but
a couple of comments :
1 - On a positive note Callum, the fact that you have some strong
criticisms just shows how well your own contest operating technique is
progressing. That's good!
2 - I think the contest would lose some of its character if there was no
mention of the club name but I do think the cumbersome accoutrements are
unnecessary, eg "and District Radio Society."
Like the Commonwealth Contest, this one also appears to serve a purpose
and have a good following so I would like to see HFCC make some
proposals. It's a difficult one. Some thoughts of mine are : 1) Club
name given as one word eg Reading, so the exchange becomes Reading
Member or Reading Station, 2) Four letter exchange based on name and
post code eg RDRG. A bit messy! Another thought might be to relax the
logging requirement to allow it to be logged in abbreviated form.
Dunno, needs some debate and then some action!! Commonwealth and 21/28
have been changed so this one should be feasible.
