Yes Steve - it is that pickyness I was actually not objecting to and
suggesting explicit clarity in my previous mail on this!
Surely we should be adjudicated according to what we copy not what we
compare to others from the same club or which we could look up in a
computer database or on the web afterwards? We have to assume that
stations (who may not give their club's formal name correctly) will
at least give it consistently and thus it can be checked that someone
is copying accurately what is sent! Compare to logging someone who
consistently gives the "wrong/unbelievable" zone exchange in CQWW.
In this sense CC contest significantly tests the experienced
operator's ability to copy complex info in demanding conditions
(people using low power - some who bother to observe the limitations
in top band that is, high static levels common on 160m, crowded band,
etc.)
I think given that most people don't spell the name, spelling should
be adjudicated with common sense.
And I think the log should as the sample suggests allow for obvious
abbreviations but require the correct one! i.e. not allow ARC when
ARS was copied!
Anyway probably I have flogged this one enough for another year on
behalf of the list :)
