Gerry I agree and odd years have done that ..this year had too much
baggage..I am 1-hr off the main East Coast main line and leaving
at 1300 I can make it to Gatwick by 1700 even with what was a major change
at Kings X but with the new "Link Station" even easier.
Local transport to the station is a hassle living in the sticks and for the
price of a return taxi fare I have fuel to take me halfway to
London so you takes your choice.

Rail fares booked well in advance (and in my case Senior Cit Discounted) are
very cheap using the many special offers. Would fly but
our local regional airports all link to London City or Heathrow non to
Gatwick.
