[UK-CONTEST] The dreaded WAE-CW QTCs!

Well it's not fair enough ( my value judgement), but then
neither is the use of DX clusters, but as has been pointed
out, DARC have decided that's the way it will be, and it is
clearly stated in the rules. Thus there is no
way your average Fritz is going to do it the hard way, and
he will gladly garner his mults from cluster spots, and
transcribe his QTCs later. I could already do this from
within N1MM if I so desired. I have a private email from one
of the organisers, saying that they believe that this is a
valid and legitimate use of technology in promoting
technical excellence. Unless there has been something lost
in translation, I have to say I profoundly disagree.
As he said, nobody is forced to enter the contest, which
although I regard as profoundly arrogant, is technically
correct. At the end of the day it is their contest to run
any way they wish. My own view is that use of DX clusters
and recording of QTCs is a prostitution of the original aims
and ideals of the contest. However, since it has been
pointed out that I am not forced to enter WAE, I will
henceforth not do so!
An equally profoundly arrogant former boss of mine, was very
fond of saying that there are no real problems in life, just
opportunities. My personal belief therefore is that RSGB
should grasp the opportunity presented and fill the void by
organising a contest as skilful and demanding as WAE once
was. ROPOCO is one of the most demanding contests in our
calendar, but of course is challenged by its daft time slot,
and the ( inevitable) parochial nature of the exchange.
Building on that and adding a "sprint" dimension could make
for one of the most interesting contests worldwide. And,
think for a moment, the ROPOCO style exchange automatically
rules out recording for later transcription, as the received
exchange has to be passed one immediately- elegant or what?
Do we have the b***s for it?

Seems fair enough but who has got a tape recorder capable of
48 hour
recording? Ferrograph used to I think!
Think they need to update the info it to include digital
recording using
Writelog and N1MM!! Might have ago next year then! I suspect
it's fairly
standard practice now anyway!
