[UK-CONTEST] VHF Contest length........

For my money, VHF/UHF contests are the ok as they are with regards to
length. It is a fact that on sunday mormings as lunch time gets nearer,
bands dry up, unless of course conditions are extremely good. The problem is
a fall off in the general level of activity. As to the use of DX clusters
etc., it must be remembered that the last thing contests have is a level
playing field on which we all take part. From my welsh portable spot, with
10 watts and a single yagi, regardless of what the event is, there is no way
that I can compete on level terms with those to the south and east. That
doesn't stop me from takeing part, and enjoying the contest whatever it is.

As to result publication..........the 144 low power 2006 results have just
been in RadCom, more than 12 months after the event. Anyone that thinks any
form of lobbying, or letters to editor etc. will change the speed of
publication , is liveing in cloud cuckoo land. This has been a problem for
20 years or so. I for one am grateful that the VHFCC get results on the web
site very quickly.

PS...I remember in dim and distant past, stations tuneing from both ends in,
or the middle out. Now which crystal will I put in the TX........
