Nice to see that website. I have been using
ex-military ropes which look extremely similar to the
Marlow Ropes ones. Somewhat to my surprise, they don't
seem to have degraded at all in 4 years in England and
10 years over here. At one time Anchor Surplus in
Nottingham had miles of the stuff - maybe they still
do. One caveat is that critters (at least Canadian
critters) find them fun to chew on, and a metre or so
of steel rope at the bottom is a good idea.
I don't think they are the same as Phyllistran(?) at
all though - I believe that is glass fibre with an
outer covering.
