That certainly includes me. Over 25wpm my CW receiving is less than
brilliant. I do, however, have a reasonably good sense of musical
timing; this helps me deal with well sent, evenly paced CW. In a
contest this is what enables me to survive above my normal speed.
As well as being jarring to listen to, the staccato effect of
selectively speeding up really throws me, especially if it's a callsign!
I know there are many who will disagree with the above, but the upshot
is that, in general, they won't get called by me. I can achieve a
better S&P rate going elsewhere. However, I do tend to make an exception
if it means giving friends and acquaintances a QSO. (new can of worms
here?)
Once you have got 'em, you

Maybe his stupid fault rather than yours. If an experienced CW op such
as yourself is caused difficulty by ever more obscure shortenings, then
maybe the other guy deserves to have his time wasted. After all, it
hardly fits in with your concept of 'marketing', does it?
What is 'D' anyway? 500?
