It's a regular event here, at the end of a long rural line. About half 
the line faults are single-wire breaks, which mean there is no on-hook 
voltage or dial tone at the master socket, but the ADSL signal as 
reported by the modem is only about 10dB below normal. The SNR may be 
marginal, but Internet access continues very much as before.

Incoming calls are diverted to the mobile, for outgoing calls we use 
Skype Out, and I can still read UK-CONTEST... there, we're back on 
topic.
