So Guys, 

Thanks for the help.  Got the man on the phone again today...suggested to him that it was a file structure problem between NT were the file was origionally built.....then transfered to XP.....didnt really want to get tooooooo tchnical with him....Oh well it wont be anything like that. 

was the reply. 

I prime my boss who then gets on the phone. 

I suggest that they delete the file that stores all the permissions.......which they did....then re-build it in XP....

So everyone is happy...and the IT dept make another discovery!

I get all me work done and submitted to a meeting at 3pm......Oh yes how long have they had these issues.........errr well only 18months!

I rest my case.
