Hi Dave,
I too was a little curious, as I was holding onto the NFD Shield for
Lichfield and similarly received no letter. Sylvia Manco at HQ has been
dealing with the trophies, and I know (from contest committee
correspondence) that letters have been sent out and various trophies
returned.
So I gave Sylvia a call last week to query if a letter had been sent to me,
and she said that letters were sent out to the "club or society secretary"
if it was a club win, and so the individual that signed for them at their
presentation might not be contacted directly. Sylvia didn't have the details
to hand of who this was sent to for Lichfield. (Someone may have the letter,
or it may have been lost in the post.)
The reason for a public reply is to reassure folks that letters have gone
out, and to clarify what may have happened if you are holding a returnable
cup / trophy on behalf of a club or society, and have not received a letter
directly. For anyone holding a trophy that needs to be returned, I'd give
them a good polish and get them sent back as soon as possible, as many will
need engraving arranged in time for the October convention. If club
secretaries don't seem to have received these letters if expected, let me
know or give Sylvia a call at HQ to clarify any required details, such as
reimbursement (as Dave mentions.)
73,
