This device appears to be a practical solution to a very real problem. Sometimes in life it is necessary to be cruel to be kind.

David however is mistaken if he is under the impression that the dog is under continued torture. In fact animals subject to electric fences and other restrictive devices pretty soon learn the limits and after a couple of  'biffs' the problem is solved. When I used to stripgraze cattle it was not necessary to re-connect the battery when moving to a new strip and it was remarkeable how skillfull the cows became at grazing a perfectly straight line with their necks within one inch of the wire without ever touching it.
