[UK-CONTEST] EU-wide NFD results

It's probably worth providing a bit of background on this.....

As many of you will know, for several years we have been exchanging logs for CW NFD and SSB FD with the other R1 National Societies who run their FDs the same weekend. This has been for the specific purpose of providing a bigger pool of logs for cross checking - and that specific purpose has been made clear in the covering e-mail that accompanies the bundle of logs.

In CW FD for 2007, Manfred DK2OY (my DARC counterpart for CW FD) included all those logs in the event described on the website that Dave G3TBK identified in his e-mail (below). On the grounds that UK entrants would have valid grounds for feeling displeased that, having entered one contest, they were being entered for an additional one without consultation, I e-mailed Manfred and asked him to refrain from this practice in future.

As Callum states in his e-mail, it's not the case that "UK scores are not allowed to be included". UK entrants can choose to submit their logs to Manfred if they wish, and I believe this individual choice approach is the correct way to go. But it may be worth making the opportunity to do so more visible, and I think that I will henceforth draw this to entrants' attention in the covering e-mail that goes out to NFD entrants.

Having got that off my chest, may I take the opportunity to wish my fellow contesters a Happy Christmas and a successful 2009.
