Thanks for the report Gerry - and for the QSO.

I only really came on for 2008 band slots with GI and EI, which I 
achieved with a QSO with EI7GY. But I certainly noticed the CW part 
of the band was a bit quiet and you would not be aware there was a 
contest on apart from a few G stations calling CQ.... Don't operate 
SSB at all.....

Nobody though has mentioned the AGCW Happy New Year contest in the 
morning - http://www.agcw.org/?Contests:Happy_New_Year_Contest (can't 
find any English rules there...). The activity in that contest was 
amazing, especially on 40m which was chock a block at times. There 
seemed to be a RTTY contest on as well, judging by the spread below 
7030... Maybe it is a bit too early for some people over here......
