Hi list
Somewhat off topic, I beg your indulgence.
Some while ago I bought three of these to replace my ageing Butternuts
in a W1CF array. However, owing to the overgrown state of that part of
my garden ( I use that word in its loosest sense!) I have been unable to
carry out the necessary work. Recently I bit the bullet, and employed a
couple of lumberjacks to clear the necessary scrub. Despite sleeping all
night, working all day, and having buttered scones for tea, they
actually did a tidy job, and I now have quite a clean canvas on which to
proceed.
I had also procured some tanellised cylindrical section fence posts and
reduced the diameter to fit the base section. So far so good. I note
however that the supplier specifies that only 0.5m is necessary to be
inserted into the pole from ground level to be self supporting to the
full 12m height. I must say that this seems rather small, and I
personally would have thought that 1m would be required. The latter
would clearly make it more difficult to lift the pole onto the post
single handed, especially in a breeze! So I wonder if anyone has
practical experience and can comment on the required height of the
ground post?
