It's not clear if this was a Spiderbeam pole? Their quality seems
superior to the average ( well it is German, we should expect that!) and
actually looks visually more like PVC rainwater goods, but clearly is
not. Somewhere on the web site there is a link to a W9 who is using the
18m unit fixed to a short piece of RSJ in concrete ( about 5ft I think)
as a full size 80m vertical, and there is a pic of it in a 60mph gale.
The top seems almost to touch the ground, but it apparently survives.
All that said, in my case with the 12m unit , there seems no reason not
to use say 1m sleeved onto the tree stake if I can engineer it.
Hey this is not strictly about contests so I'd better QRT now ;-)
