Speaking of flue - day 3 of it here. Hopefully back to work tomorrow.
 
Anyway just to add some support to the verticals debate. We have used  
verticals for 40 and 80 within the Brizzle contest group for a couple  of years. 
First used them at EJ2MT for IOTA 2005/2006 and we also used  them with some 
modest success at GJ6YB for IOTA this year. The  40m vertical can be seen in the 
photo in my write-up on the G6YB web site; 80m  one just out of shot.
 
We also tried a Moxon array for 20m whilst we were on Jersey, fixed at  
ground level. Didn't use it as one of the operating antennas, more a trial to  see 
if/how it worked. Certainly some gain in the line of the array with JAs  
coming through quite nicely.
