Hi Tamie,
I would check out Jims interesting post on his IOTA experiments back in August, from the archives:

http://lists.contesting.com/pipermail/uk-contest/2008-August/011046.html

in which he describes a succesful 80M vertical. Something which I'll be trying when I get back on the radio.

I bet with a bit of googling you'd find that you quickly gain all the knowledge you need to enjoy hours of fun experimenting, so don't let that put you off! A google with small 160M aerial in the box yielded some interesting links (so much so I bookmarked them myself) such as:

http://www.dxzone.com/catalog/Antennas/160M/
http://www.iw5edi.com/ham-radio/?a-practical-antenna-for-160-metres,32
http://www.dxzone.com/cgi-bin/dir/jump2.cgi?ID=7466

Look forward to catching you on 160 - hopefully I'll be QRV again before the end of the year.
