[UK-CONTEST] Insurance of radio towers

Hello Chris et al

A Versatower P60 crashed down here in a storm in 1996 and was replaced by my
'house contents' insurance (Norwich Union) without too much hassle.

Initially, the 'house contents' insurer claimed that it was in the garden,
therefore covered by the 'buildings' insurance, but eventually the key
question was "would you take this item with you if you moved house?" which
categorised the tower as 'house contents' - somewhat surprising to me (I had
a mental picture of a P60 in our kitchen!) but I was not going to argue the
point.

Without tempting fate, I am uncertain as to why anyone has separate amateur
radio insurance nowadays - all my stuff is itemised and valued with other
house contents for very little extra cost on the annual premium.
