Hi Alex
You should have no problems with the Icom interface CIV17 most logging
programs work well with it and the 7800 I use both Writelog and N1MM the
default address used by the icom is pre programmed in both write log and
N1MM, if you use writelog set the baud rate up as a fixed value i.e. 9k6
19200 etc as I have found auto seems less responsive on band maps.
Hope this helps and doesn't bring up more questions than it answers.

Subject: [UK-CONTEST] Icom rigs and computer control?
Hi,
Our local club are doing Jota this year and we will have an IC7800. Being a
Yaesu user I'm not familiar with Icom rig "CAT" control, I believe it is
called CIV or something?
I bought a control cable which seems to work well with my IC706. It has a
3.5mm jack plug at the rig end. I believe all Icom rigs use the same
interface so presumably this cable will also work with an IC7800 - is that
correct?
We will not have the IC7800 until a few days before JOTA so I am trying to
sort out computer control in advance - any other potential pitfalls I should
be aware of?
