Having held what I thought was a fairly clear frequency for 15 minutes
before the "off" with Win-Test primed in Run mode, I was taken aback to be
called by four or five stations as the clock ticked over to 20:00. There
then ensured several second's panic as I decided which "key" to press next,
only succeeding in changing my outgoing report to 519, sending a load of
rubbish without a callsign and a garbled couple of calls... apologies to
GW4BLE and others - you know who you are, having sat on 3548.95 for many
minutes expecting a degree of skill that was not forthcoming!
It settled down after a couple of minutes (or at least I think it did!), but
by that time I had regrettably delayed the off for a few contestants!
Last week I acquired the elusive 270Hz filter for the TS570. With this rig
you can fit only one choice of narrow filter - 2.4kHz with DSP just left the
AGC sitting on 9+ and me deaf. 270Hz required precision tuning by those
calling. 96 six of you managed it for which many thanks, but it was
disappointing from this end as that's 20 less than last month. There were
long gaps when no-one managed to squeeze in between the QRM. So for next CW
it's probably back to 500Hz!
Thanks to all for the fun evening and the practice at hitting the right keys
in the right order.
"You're playing all the wrong notes" "No, I playing all the right notes, but
not necessarily in the right order" with acknowledgements to Eric Morecambe
