My MP is also unmodded; when I lived in Lichfield, and G3KDB did, we were
mutually loud with each other and had other strange effects, but neither of
us ever complained about key clicks and wide signals. There were original
MP's of 1996 vintage, if that makes a difference. The only person that
complained was a certain ON DXer, after he had changed his allegiance from
Yaesu to some other exotica; on an empty band one morning. Begs the
question how bad is bad ? !!
I don't recall mine looking bad when monitoring with a 'scope !
It should also be remembered that modding a radio like this could affect the
resale-ability of the radio; some folk would not want to buy a radio that
might have been modified by someone with 2 left hands; for fear of not
knowing what they are letting themselves into, no matter how well
intentioned !!!

Well myself and GW3RIH must have been very lucky in getting a couple of
good 1000MPs then, because we lived 500 yards apart and both ran 400w,
me using an Alpha 78 and Wes using a TL922, and we could operate within
10kHz of each other on 14Mhz , without insurmountable problems problems.
You don't suppose that could have been because we didn't overdrive the
amplifiers do you? ;-)
