Bill,
I don't think you can go wrong. I use a XV144 and a modified XV50 - an XV70
(for 4m!) which actually belong to Allan GM4ZUK. I've just started building
my own XV144, which I bought last year. I drive both with an Elecraft K3,
which works and interfaces perfectly. Elecraft transverters can be daisy
chained. I have no idea how you'd interface it with the IC703, you'll need
to check that out, but I'm sure it won't be a problem. I've heard quite a
lot off the moon at rise time with the XV144 on a single old 17ele Tonna
(with an MGF1302 preamp).
It's a fairly challenging construction job, and you'll need a decent
soldering station and illuminated magnifier. Although the price will have
increased since last summer, I think it's very good value for money - take a
look at what you'd pay for the equivalent Kuhne. Elecraft really don't make
much of a song and dance about the spec but I believe it's top class.

Subject: [UK-CONTEST] Elecraft XV144 Transverter

Hi all,

Is anyone using the Elecraft XV 144 Transverter? If so, opinions please. I'm
looking to ask the bosses (wife's) permission, and get one. Looking to drive
it with my IC-703.

Would appreciate some feedback.

Cheers chaps.....

Bill G7PVZ.
