[UK-CONTEST] SO section of VHF Contests and the Contest Forum

Chris et al,

You may have seen the various messages from one or two members of the
contest committee on this reflector but they have said please submit
comments directly to the contest committee and don't necessarily expect that
they read this reflector.

They appeared to say that they will only take into account information
received "officially". I suspect and hope that is misleading and they do
pick up information wherever it exists and not wait for "official" comments.

Reg, G8VHI and I (Neil, G3RIR) have arranged for a VHF Contest Forum to be
part of the VHF and Up stream at the RSGB Convention. The RSGB Contest
Committee has been invited to participate and Peter, G4CLA has kindly agreed
to be present. 

Reg and I are not members of the contest committee nor are we members of the
hierarchy of the RSGB but had been lobbying for some considerable time to
have a VHF Convention. As a result the RSGB President Elect, Dave Wilson,
M0OBW challenged us to set up a VHF stream at the RSGB Convention. This we
have done and we hope that the UK Amateur VHF (UHF, Microwave) community
will respond and come in droves to the convention. 

We have arranged the VHF and Up stream so that there is a balance between
the two days so that anyone who can only come for one day will have a
worthwhile trip. 

Of course, we hope that many will want to come for both days and also join
everyone socialising, particularly during the Saturday evening at the bar or
at the Gala Dinner (or both).
