Ken

Depends on your operating style.

There are 5 filter slots and it comes with one filled with 5 pole
2.7KHz, which can be replaced with 8 pole 2.8KHz at time of order at
lower cost than ordering later. Probably worth it if you do a lot of SSB
DXing/contesting but marginal. You have to have the 2.7 or 2.8 installed
for transmit filtering.

However do get the 5 pole roofing filter in 200 and 500Hz. The 400 and
250 8 pole are not worth the extra cost unless you have deep pockets
performance improvement is very minimal over the 5 pole.

You may need the 1KHz if you like to tune the band with a wide
bandwidth, but personally would not bother just let the K3 use the
2.7/2.8K filter.

The 2nd RX has the same performance as the main RX. This is worth
getting if you do SO1R and tune on the 2nd RX as well as listening on
the CQ channel. This allows for S&P especially useful when contests get
slow but still calling CQ. The second RX can be tuned to the same or
another band but will not receive when using the TX. This also has 5
filter slots which are dedicated to the 2nd RX. How good it will receive
on another band depends on your antenna set up.

To TX AM need the AM filter and FM filter for FM though you can get the
FM filter and tell the rig it is the AM one and TX through that. If you
tune HF broadcast bands worth getting the general band pass filter board.

The auto ATU is very good but only worth it if you need it, but it does
add two antenna ports, which are remembered across bands or can be
changed manually from Front Panel.

The transverter I/O is worth it if you use a transverter (!) and also
gives you a RX in and out which is useful for beverages/pre-amp for 6m
etc. It also has an IF out port which is used for SDR and software like
CW Skimmer. Read the K3 literature.
