Why use an SO239 at all? Do a job proper job & use an N type. I really 
can't understand why
the manufacturers of amateur kit insist on using these dreadful 
connectors especially on equipment
where space is limited like the FT817 where they put a BNC on the front 
& a 259 on the back.
