Hello UK-contesters
If you are fairly new to contesting, now is the time to try some
international contests if you have enjoyed the CC and AFS events - coming up
are the ARRL contests, which are easy and enjoyable to participate in. You
work U.S. and VE stations only.
ARRL CW - 21/22nd Feb - 48 hrs - they send 599+state/province e.g. 599NY -
you send
599+power as fast as possible e.g. 5nn1tt
ARRL SSB - 7/8th Mar - 48 hrs - they send 59+state, you send 59100 or
whatever as fast as possible.

If you are on RTTY, please work us at ZM4A in the CQ WPX RTTY contest this
coming weekend.
I'm not a RTTY op, so it took me a while to realise that when S&P, using
true FSK rather than AFSK, AFC and NET have to be 'off' and you have to
accurately tune in the station you are going to call. In 'Run' mode we can
put AFC on, but not when S&P. These are obvious statements to RTTY ops of
course, but it took us some time to realise why other stations were not
replying (apart from ZM4A being too weak, hi)
Some software (e.g.Logger32) can move the TX frequency (via the CAT
control) when using FSK, but we can't seem to get N1MM (not my favourite
contest logger) to do this - the help file seems to indicate that it should
be able to control the TX frequency ? 9 out of 10 RTTY ops are probably
using AFSK via the Mic socket so this is not relevant to them.
