[UK-CONTEST] 12v down a long run of cable

Hi Dave,

I'm going to go down the battery route, I've tried solar panels in the past but the one I have doesn't really cut it (Was only about £10 in a sale somewhere). I'll keep the battery topped up from the 12v (I'll actually be running 16v down them to try to counter the voltage drop somewhat) lines, (Hopefully if the current is low enough the voltage won't drop too much). Eventually I'll be running low voltage AC down the lines, that coupled with some better suited cable should hopefully do the trick.

Hi James

You could consider keeping the battery topped up with a solar panel. 
That's what I do with the battery I use for raising my mast. Only had to 
charge it from the mains twice in two years.
