[UK-CONTEST] Hardline query (M0XDF)

I have to say that I agree with feedline losses "tabu".
I grew mostly on RG58 Network type (Yellow too) and could not get my head
around why I am so bad on 2m with 17el yagi....I was 12 by then hih.

I recently changed old RG-213 to LDF2-50 on 20/15/10 and instantly got bad
SWR, proof of RG213 losses off course! I had to retune UDA (or yagi) and
just for fun I put 213 back and no difference. When I used Power meter with
integrated dummy load which goes to 150MHz/200W, on 50ft I lost 45W from
100W. ECOFLEX had better results but no, it is not "flexible hardline" as
they like to market it.
FSJ1-50 - should have abt 3dB on 100m @ 30MHz and ECOFLEX should better, but
it was not.
Now I found some more surplus hardline (2-50,4-50) and want to replace all
ecoflexes on 2m and 70cm for that.

If you don't have connectors as we never did in OK before 1989 you can
easily do that:

I think what Darrell meant is, that's how the *professionals* see it.

For us, Heliax is a bargain - especially the larger sizes because people
are scared of it. It is actually much lighter than it looks, and quite
easy to handle (50m of LDF5 can easily be installed single-handed). Good
used connectors are dirt cheap on eBay.

Above all, Heliax is far more rugged and waterproof than braided coax.
