In my experience this practice is very rare, G3MIR may of course have
been confused with the type of contest this was, he may for a moment
have thought it was a sprint?  He may even have thought it was the other
chaps frequency! OK I'm not making excuses for him I don't even know him
but its possible?
Generally operating procedures during contesting are very good, don't
let this bad example put you off!
