[UK-CONTEST] VHF-NFD Fixed Stations

Folks,

By allowing sweepers to work everyone and call CQ aren't we really 
saying that FD events should have a fixed station category? For me, FD 
(VHF or otherwise) are portable contests. Fixed stations are naturally 
welcome to come on, call CQ, work contest stations, work DX, talk to Bob 
in Preston about his Rhubarb - the bands are open to everyone 24/7. 
There are plenty of fixed station contests throughout the year and I 
would be disappointed to see the special essence of FD contests diluted 
by a fixed station category. That said, I applaud Pete's idea to 
increase activity from Joe average by introducing the sweeper section 
and am surprised that experienced contesters here are saying that they 
won't bother to turn on the radio unless they have a section they can 
win. How about being someone else's "cannon fodder" for a change?
