A date close to the longest day means propagtion should  favour stations in the Southern  parts of the UK . That's  the way it worked outfor me too.  My QTH is in Surrey and although I never had a clean frequency I managed to get some  good runs.. There was plenty of EU (Russian and Italian ) QRM but it was at a lowish level and all but the weakest UK callers weren't troubled by it.  It must be tough for GM stations at this time of year and  I only managed to QSO one of them last night.
I'm lucky to have some large trees to the edge of my garden and so I can get my antenna fairly high up.  So, using a dipole up at about 65ft and100W from my old FT1000mp  I ended up with 174 QSOs.
I notice that immediatedly after the contest even the poor old Robot was feeling the strain and told me to come back later!  I love the Robot.

Oh yes, some one said
>>>  Congratulations to the M3 who was holding a run
frequency and was way ahead of us!<<<

Yes, it's amazing what some of these M3 stations can do with 10W !
