Hi Tammie.

No, you don't qualify I'm afraid. I have seen some of your postings and replied to one or two
in the past. You are willing to learn, the young gits are those who are UN-willing to learn and
not only that they think they know more than the OLD gits! I hope I make sense?

We need youngsters like yourself in the hobby so carry on as you are!

As for my age, well it must be correct as I always see this Grumpy Old Man staring back from the mirror!

Seriously though, some of the hassle has been caused by the new licencing system. I don't think ANY
newcomer to the hobby should be allowed on the air for at least six months, until they have learned
something about operating procedures, bands and what to expect where, call signs, and have served
the necessary "apprenticeship" period. Then there would not be any moans from the OLD gits!

Oh yes, and every HF operator should have to learn Morse too!

Hard hat on, flak jacket in place.........

Hello all, I've been lurking again and thought I would reply to this as a "young" person.

I wonder if I am a "young git"????? I have decided to try my hand at learning Morse by using a small book from around WWII period and also Roger's brilliant Morse book.

We don't have CW classes here but I am a member of my local club (editor of newsletter and on committee). But I can honestly say I know that propagation is bad but not because of clouds... if it was then today would be fantastic as it's brilliant blue skies with sunshine... if only sunspots were related to clouds.

Roger - even if you begin with a 7 I'm sure you don't look old!
